New Freesat boxes have been announced from Goodmans and Grundig. There’s not much to choose between the Goodmans GDB300HD and the Grundig GUD300HD since both offer HDMI output of up to 1080p, an eight-day EPG, HDMI connections and Ethernet for future internet services.

Both also claim green credentials by using less than 1W of power in standby mode and they can receive future software upgrades such as the addition of the BBC’s iPlayer via download.

Harvard International’s Communications Director, John Edwards, said: “You wouldn’t drive a Ferrari with the hand brake on, so why watch an HD TV with a picture quality five times lower quality than it could be? With no subscription fees, a one off investment in a new Grundig or Goodmans HD Freeview box makes it easy for every family member to be entertained by their favourite channels and programmes in HD.”
Both models are available now priced at £150 from Argos, Tesco, Comet, Costco, Hughes TV and play.com.
