LG is hoping to be first with its ‘full circle’ 3D range of products which are slated for a May release. The range will include a 3D TV and matching 3D Blu-ray player with the LX9900 and BX580.

The LX9900 LED backlit LCD TV comes in 55in and 47in sizes and is very slim at 3.16cm. It offers full HD 1080p, 10,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, TruMotion 400Hz processing and a Freeview HD tuner. Also on board is LG’s NetCast internet TV offering including YouTube, weather reports and other content.

The new TVs will use active shutter technology but won’t come with any 3D glasses – these will be sold separately and though the price hasn’t yet been announced, it’s expected to be in the region of £100 a pair.

The BX580 3D Blu-ray player comes with HMDI 1.4 connection and can access NetCast and streaming content from your PC via wireless link to your network.

Stephen Gater, Head of Marketing LG Home Entertainment Company, commented, “We’ve seen such enormous interest that we choose to bring the LX9900 televisions to the shelves ahead of schedule, to meet the demand. The new active 3D TV, matched with the 3D Blu-ray player, means our customers can experience the wonder, excitement and thrills generated by 3D programming and movies from the comfort of their own sofa.”

LG’s new 3D range will be available in May with guideline prices estimated at £3,800 for the 55in LX9900, £2,750 for the 47in and £300 for the BX580.
