Denon has announced the S-5DB Cara, an all-in-one Blu-ray player and 5.1-channel amplifier.
It’s a sleek-looking glossy back box with curved lines and includes support for two-channel stereo and 2.1 as well as surround sound and upscales standard DVD to HD 1080p resolution.
It offers 5×75-watt amplification into 4 ohms and includes support for Dolby Pro Logic IIz, featuring front height effects channels, as well as Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD Master Audio for decoding Full HD lossless multichannel recordings on Blu-ray discs.
Denon’s AL24 Processing is on board as is a ‘Compressed Audio Restorer’, designed to get the most from compressed music formats such as MP3 and it supports HDMI 1.4 with support for Audio Return Channel, Deep Color, x.v.Color, and Auto Lip-sync.
It comes with Audyssey MultEQ auto set-up and room calibration technology to make it easy to get the best sound and includes front-panel HDMI and SD card inputs as well as direct iPod/iPhone digital playback via the USB port.
The Denon Cara will be available in March for £1,999.
