Danish speaker manufacturer Scandyna has launched the latest of its curvy designs in the UK, the Megapod.
The style is based on the firm’s Minipod speaker, but adds a large Megapod bass speaker at the bottom. The cabinets are made from moulded ABS and fashioned into spherical shapes to eliminate the possibility of standing waves which might cause internal resonance. It stands on three Sputnik Spikes and is attached to the smaller enclosure by a curved aluminium arm.
The upper cabinet features a 25mm free-mounted tweeter and a single 125mm midrange driver with woven Kevlar cone, while the bass cabinet uses a long throw 250mm bass driver. All cabling is hidden away in the tube connecting the sections.
The Megapod is available now in a variety of colours including eye-catching red, blue or yellow, for £2,400 per pair, or Minipod owners can upgrade for £925 per speaker.
