Humax HD-FOX T2

Humax has been demoing the first of its upcoming range of Freeview HD set-top boxes, the HD-FOX T2.

The device, due early next year, will be capable of receiving HD signals from your existing aerial without need for a subscription, of course, but it can also upscale to 1080p at 50Hz so broadcasters can adapt the signal to suit what’s being broadcast.

It has an Ethernet port for internet connection and future firmware updates, as well as a USB slot allowing you to record directly to a hard drive as well as play back stored media, PVR style. Humax says however that these functions will be added as firmware updates later, since they won’t be available at launch.

Home networking is covered too and the T2 will be able to transmit content from your network to your TV. Supported formats haven’t been officially announced yet however.

The HD-FOX T2 will be available early next year, price £170.
