Brit TV manufacturer Cello Electronics has beaten much bigger names to the punch with the launch of the iViewer, the first TV in the UK to have BBC iPlayer streaming built-in.

The TV connects directly to the internet via (supplied) Ethernet cable or with an optional Wi-Fi dongle. As well as the iPlayer it will also be able to stream YouTube and other online channels including Disney Movies Preview, Autocar Magazine, Jamie’s Ministry Of Food, Sky Sports Boots and All, as well as CNN and Larry King vidcasts.

At launch, the iViewer will come in 26in and 32in sizes and include a built-in Freeview TV tuner, two HDMI sockets, a fast channel search option and a full seven-day EPG.

The full HD 32in version costs £499, while the HD-ready 26in costs £399. Both models go on sale later this week, though a spokesman for Cello said he expected them to be in short supply before Christmas.
