- Cameras can be used with 4:3 aspect ratio screens and retrofitted into existing 16:9 and 16:10 installations
- Design makes camera nearly invisible behind the screen
- Integral threaded hardware makes installation easy without brackets
Torrance, CA and Las Vegas, NV (Infocomm) – June 09, 2010 — Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®, the industry leader in precision projection screen technologies for the commercial and residential markets, today announced the introduction of the StarCam integrated camera housing for Stewart StarGlas laminated rear projection screen systems. Enabling videoconferencing for new and existing StarGlas installations, the StarCam provides a mount for video cameras in a clear glass port that is integrated into a black inlay border that frames the projected image. The system can be used with screens in multiple aspect ratios.
“StarCam is the ideal way to add video teleconferencing communication to both new and existing meeting and board rooms,” said Don Parenta, Director of Sales North America Commercial & Professional Products. “Our solution makes the camera barely visible behind the screen thanks to its unobtrusive design. Mounted inside a glass port ensures that there will be no sound transmission from the projection room and associated equipment into the meeting environment.”
The StarCam can be used with both new and existing 4:3 StarGlas rear projection systems. 4:3 screens can be easily replaced with current 16:9 and 16:10 image sizes with the added value of the StarCam feature without disturbing the integrity of the existing opening or millwork, thereby minimizing construction costs.
With the camera mounted within the black inlay border, its visibility to meeting participants is significantly reduced, with the effect that the camera tends to disappear from view. Its black border also improves image contrast and helps create an overall high-tech appearance. Using a glass port to mount the camera preserves the acoustical seal of the space behind the screen, isolating noise generated by the projection equipment from the meeting room space.
Compatible with virtually all of today’s videoconference camera models, installation of the camera is simplified by the use of integral threaded hardware that allows camera mounting without separate brackets.
The StarCam is currently shipping. The product will be on display at InfoComm in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 9 to 11, 2010.
