DMi D&M Installation has launched the latest in the Escient FireBall SEi range of HDD digital music servers onto the European CI market. The new FireBall SE500 boasts a massive 500GB internal hard drive, enabling the acquisition, storage, replay and management of thousands of hours of encoded music.

The latest FireBall SEi digital audio servers are packed with features that make acquiring, encoding, storing, searching and playing music files as easy as watching TV. Multi-functionality includes CD playback, ripping and CD-R recording, analogue recording, internet radio streaming, PC/ Mac file sharing, and HD storage for thousands of albums worth of music.
The on-screen user interface for browsing, managing and selecting music, IP streaming, system configuration and setup functions, is supplemented by the included FireBall-PC™ application for control and streaming of music files on a Mac or PC. A web browser interface enables the remote control and streaming of online media, and a PDA interface enables control of the FireBall from any pocket sized web enabled device.
All of the usual custom install RS-232, Ethernet and IR control functionality is provided, and the SE500 features a second RS-232 port for increased control and networking capability. An IR remote control, and Ethernet and AV cables are included.
The FireBall SEi series supports a complete range of audio formats: linear PCM (CD audio) and FLAC lossless encoding offer high quality encoding, while MP3 offers compressed audio at all of the standard bitrate options. The SE500 provides for massive storage of music files; 1416 hours of stereo audio with FLAC encoding, 3373 hours with 320kbs MP3 encoding, 5622 hours with MP3 at 192kbs, and 8432 hours with MP3 at 128kbs. Automatic CD identification using Gracenote CDDB™, with cover art provided by AMG, is supported.
