7.1-CHANNEL HOME CINEMA RECEIVER WITH A PERFORMANCE EDGE
Available in black or silver, fully-equipped with 1080P HDMI Pass-Through and power to spare…
Featuring all-new ‘sculpted’ family styling for 2007 Onkyo’s new affordable home cinema receiver offers an amazing feature list and level of performance, at an unbelievable price.
Competitive pricing, however, does not equate to compromised performance – it never does where Onkyo products are concerned. Where the TX-SR505E is concerned it’s the company’s humble aim to deliver the very best sounding home cinema receiver you can buy at its price point. Period.
Power: Putting out 7 × 130W/ch this receiver has all the clout it needs to deliver home cinema with real punch. A massive H.C.P.S (High Current Power supply) plus Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) ensures that power won’t wilt as the onscreen audio action gets ratcheted up.
1080P HDMI Pass-Thru: With two HDMI inputs and one output this receiver is ideal choice for those who wish to connect up HD-DVD/Blu-ray players and Playstation 3 consoles to their displays. If you’ve only got one HDMI input on your flatscreen it’s positively a lifesaver!
720P/1080i-capable Component Video switching: in addition to twin HDMIs, three component inputs and one output allow users to hook up every console and disc player they’ve got.
Blu-ray/HD-DVD audio compatibility: connect your hi-definition disc player’s analogue outputs to the matching 7.1 inputs on the TX-SR505E and you’ll experience full-on surround sound from your Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs.
Easy set-up: Audyssey has earned an excellent reputation for its accomplished automatic calibration and room correction systems in high-end multi-channel amplifier/receivers. Audyssey 2EQ is a simplified variant that derives room info from multiple positions, detecting speaker polarity and distance, and which then sets the correct levels, delays and crossovers, all done with amazing precision and in a matter of a few minutes.
Processing: All processing is via an advanced high-performance 32-bit DSP processor with ultra-fast 192kHz/24-bit DACs provided for all channels, delivering clean, distortion-free audio.
When it comes to surround sound decoding the TX-SR505E boasts Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro-Logic II, DTS, DTS Neo 6 5.1, DTS 96/24, with CinemaFilter to tame excessive high frequencies on movie soundtracks when auditioned in smaller rooms.
Where musicality is concerned the TX-SR505E is a distinct cut above its peers… just engage the Pure Audio mode for audible proof.
Unusually versatile subwoofer crossover adjustment: pick from eight frequencies from 40Hz to 200Hz. Also our switchable Double Bass function ensures that bass frequencies get sent to the subwoofer, even if the main front left/right speakers are set to large.
Lip-Sync Correction: if you experience a delay between the audio soundtrack and its partnering video when enjoying a movie this useful feature should correct it. Allows adjustment of up to 100 milliseconds, in 20ms steps.
Full iPod Compatibility via Onkyo RI dock: having sold more 100 million units worldwide the iPod has now officially achieved iconic status. Hook up an optional Onkyo RI dock (Onkyo iPod docks have won What Hi-Fi Sound And Vision’s Best iPod dock for two years running) and you can control all your iPod’s important functionality via the TX-SR505E’s handset while listening to music/watching video files via your TV/surround sound system.
Other features
• Digital upsampling
• Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry
• Bass/treble controls for left/right speakers
• RDS FM/AM tuner with 40 presets
• 4 digital inputs (2 optical/2 coaxial)
• 3 composite/S-Video inputs, 2 composite/S-Video outputs
And unlike less enlightened manufacturers we colour-code all our main loudspeaker terminals… because it makes sense to.
You may be able to buy cheaper 7.1-channel receivers than the TX-SR505E but once you hear it in action – and live with it – we’re pretty certain you’ll understand why cheapest isn’t always best…
