Announced last year and the first of its type, the model three 1080 has been in very short supply due to restricted chip availability. Whilst others have released 1080 products, projectiondesign has not stood still and the m3 now shipping is a much more advanced beast and includes both the Crystalio II and six lens options in the price.
The Model Three 1080 clearly outperforms all existing front projectors, providing superb image dynamics, deep inky blacks, absolute colour fidelity and unprecedented clarity. No competitor comes close on contrast or the brightness needed for big screens, or has the flexibility and image quality delivered from all sources by the Crystalio II, or has the option of six lenses. With ever more 1080p programming becoming available, this is the future of Home Cinema.
NEW Crystalio II VPS-3300 – broadcast quality processing, scaling and a 4 into 2 HDMI switch – all included
Customised by projectiondesign, the Crystalio handles video processing & switching. Gennum’s VXP uses 4th-gen broadcast-quality algorithms and 10bit 4:4:4 broadcast-grade processing to make the world’s most advanced image processor. The two HDMI outputs can feed a projector and a display separately at their own resolutions.
UNIQUE – Six high-end lens options by Nittoh – no competitor offers this choice, let alone as a no-cost option
Ultra Wide Angle 0.75 :1 – Wide Angle 1.1 : 1 – Wide Angle Zoom 1.2 – 1.57:1 – Standard Zoom 1.57 – 2.33 :1 – Short Tele Zoom 2.3 – 3.7 :1 – Long Tele Zoom 3.7 – 6.5 : 1. All these lenses are optically matched to the model three and deliver consistent quality and brightness, with no light loss (many competitors use generic lens options with up to 40% loss of brightness) This lens range covers screens from 3ft / 1m to 22ft / 6.7m horizontal. All six lenses feature motorised
horizontal and vertical lens shift, allowing complete flexibility in installation without distorting the image.
TECH ADVANTAGE – the industry’s most effective implementation of Texas Instruments® BrilliantColor™
The model three 1080 uses SLR – Spoke Light Recapture, part of BrilliantColor™ technology – to dramatically improve colour reproduction, especially in secondary colours. The display output then looks brighter and more intense.
TECH ADVANTAGE – DuArch™ Dual Architecture delivers a huge 2500 lumens output for the largest screens, with a 130 foot throw, an astonishing max screen size of 22 feet horizontal and up to 8000 hours lamp life!
SMPTE cinema specs demand 12 foot lamberts of light off a neutral screen. Competing 1080 projectors have low brightness levels when calibrated, and struggle to light a decently sized screen properly, let alone at SMPTE levels. projectiondesign’s DuArch™ Dual Architecture system, with two 250 watt UHP lamps, two colour wheels and dual light formatters, delivers 2500 lumens and can easily light a screen at least 4 – 6x larger than competing projectors.
Small Screens Too. With a continually variable iris and lamp power down to 500 lumens, the model three will work with any size screen, With the lens iris stopped down, small screens look equally impressive and contrast is astonishing.
TECH ADVANTAGE – projectiondesign RealColor Management
projectiondesign’s proprietary RealColor Management, enables the user to correctly calibrate the projector to any source and environment, in order to show any desired white point, and colour gamut. RCM takes into account the source, the optical properties of the projector and the environmental distortion from screens and reflections.
TECH ADVANTAGE – real optical contrast ratio of 7500:1 – Intensive white and deep black in the same picture
With high brightness levels, more can be used for optical contrast. Many manufacturers use dynamic contrast figures to exaggerate specs. pd use optical contrast to achieve dynamic imaging. Dynamic contrast looks good on paper, but controls the output of the projector based on the image, so only with bright content will the projector be bright. A dark cave may be dark, but a bright torch will be dim and with mixed scenes, a projector with dynamic iris and contrast will be neither bright, nor dark. True optical contrast always has full white and black levels available. A torch in a dark cave will have intense whites and the dark areas will be jet-black. Optical contrast stays true to the calibrated grey scale tracking.
