HITACHI to demonstrate award winning solutions at IFA 2006

At this year’s IFA in Berlin, Germany 1 – 6 September 2006, Hitachi will demonstrate how its “technology and know-how improves your life” by showcasing its latest innovations in the consumer electronics industry. Hitachi will be exhibiting its latest products and solutions on an impressive 708m² stand in Hall 23, Stand 106. Hitachi’s presence at IFA has grown significantly in recent years, enabling it to demonstrate its full range of consumer products, as well as its capabilities in supporting applications and solutions in this market.

Digital Media Group, Hitachi Europe Ltd. will unveil a range of revolutionary flatscreens to take advantage of the exciting new HD platforms and digital content rolling out across Europe. The Picture Master 9000 Series of 32 and 37-inch LCD and 42 and 55-inch plasma iDTVs demonstrate Hitachi’s flagship technology. Hitachi will be displaying its 42-inch Alis 1080 plasma panel – the world’s first to offer 1024 × 1080 high definition resolution. Hitachi is also offering visitors to the show a ‘taste of the future’ with a special preview of its 60-inch Plasma flatscreen TV with a 1920 × 1080 pixel display offering full HD resolution. Hitachi will also launch its 8000 Series, a range of fully featured ‘HD Ready’ integrated digital LCD and Plasma TVs.

The original inventor of DVD camcorders, Hitachi also unveils the world’s first Hybrid DVD/Hard Disk Drive Camcorder. The product is designed to give users the convenience of the DVD format with the capacity of a hard disk drive. Small, lightweight and exceptionally versatile, the Hybrid camcorder is available in two 8GB HDD memory options – the DZ-GX3300E which boasts a 3 Mega pixel CCD and the DZ-GX3100E which offers 1.3 Mega pixels. Both accept most standard DVD formats and can be used to record and edit before burning to a DVD, without having to load software or connect to a PC or other hardware device.

Visitors will be able to see a preview of two as yet unreleased DVD/Hard Disk Drive recorders: a Blu-Ray version which uses the latest digital format for recording; and a huge capacity ‘1-Terabyte’ Hard Disk Drive model, a record-all solution for serious TV and multimedia users.
Also on show will be the latest Memory Master releases: the DV-DS163E (160GB hard disk drive) and DV-DS253E (250GB hard disk drive). These accept all main DVD formats and use HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) with video up scaling to 1080i to deliver sharp and precise image and audio quality. Featuring an intuitive menu interface to help navigate programme, photo and music files they effectively transform televisions into high quality multimedia ‘jukeboxes’.

Hitachi has announced its next generation of the award-winning and highly successful PJ-TX200 home cinema projector, the PJ-TX300. High definition ready and delivering an extraordinary 10000:1 contrast ratio, this striking all-black 16:9 projector delivers the best possible picture quality for big screen home viewing combined with whisper quiet operation.

Also launching at IFA will be the new Hitachi CPX1 LCD projector that addresses most mobile and professional needs. This models PC-less presentation function and quick start up time are complimented by its stylish and compact design. As a result the CPX1 delivers an unmatched combination of ease of use, performance and portability, making it an indispensable business tool for professionals on the move.

Hitachi’s CP-X600 Series LCD projectors, designed for installation in medium and large presentation facilities at corporate venues and educational institutions, will also be exhibited. The projectors combine 4000 ANSI lumen brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio in a new easy maintenance, high reliability chassis.

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (GST) will be displaying its newest hard disk drives for consumer electronics at IFA 2006. Spanning 1.0-inch, 1.8-inch, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch formats, the drives are employed in a range of consumer devices such as MP3 players, personal media players, digital still and video cameras, digital video recorders (DVRs), GPS, cars, gaming consoles and PCs.

With digital video becoming a primary catalyst for the growth of hard disk-based storage in consumer electronics, Hitachi GST is tailoring its hard drives to support video-specific features. Hitachi’s new CinemaStar hard drive has incorporated features such as advanced streaming technologies, improved acoustics, low-power modes and adaptive error recovery, among others, for use in DVRs. These and other video-specific functionality will make Hitachi hard drives especially receptive to storing and retrieving digital video content, while also enriching the viewer experience.

The Hitachi CinemaStar, along with the Microdrive, Travelstar, Endurastar and Deskstar hard drives will all be shown in the latest CE applications at IFA.

Display Products Group, Hitachi Europe Ltd. will present its range of innovative small sized LCD technologies suitable for mobile applications. Demonstrating a range of In Plane Switching (IPS) TFT panels, providing high quality imagery from all angles and in all types of viewing conditions.
From May 2006, IPS Alpha Technology Ltd., a joint venture which Hitachi formed with Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. and Toshiba Corporation, started mass production of large sized TV panels using IPS technology. IPS technology can be applied to various mobile devices providing higher picture performance in multimedia applications such as, mobile TVs, portable media players, digital still cameras, etc, as well as large sized TV applications.

Hitachi Software Engineering Europe (HSEE) will present selected products from its ICT range. FX Series is the latest Hitachi interactive whiteboard product available in Europe. FX uses a wireless (Bluetooth) system that ensures the most effective and the safest connections. A durable surface means it can also be used as a regular whiteboard. Added customisable functionality buttons enable quick and easy access to the whiteboard’s key features.

Another product being demonstrated by HSEE is the T-17SXL panel, a compact, interactive SXGA resolution LCD display, which combined with the StarBoard Software suite of presentation and collaboration tools brings exceptional clarity to interactive presentations, meetings, lessons and lectures. The high-resolution 17” screen – 1280 × 1024 pixels, with 16,20,000 colours and great contrast provides a highly accurate interactive surface, ideal for demonstrating points precisely.

Maxell Europe Ltd. will present a new range of data/image storage solutions for the consumer market, including the latest optical disk technology. These products include Blu-ray rewritable (BD-RE) and Blu-ray write-once (BD-R) disks. There is also a full range of DVD recordable disks for recorders, PCs and camcorders. Maxell will display its extensive Memory card line up (Compact Flash, Secure Digital, Multimedia Card and USB drives). Additionally, there are the AV/PC accessories consisting of headphones, care & maintenance products, storage as well as the new iPOD accessories.

Maxell will also be demonstrating the company’s new Digital Pen. This innovative device uses state-of-the-art technology to instantly transform handwritten notes into a text file. These notes can then be sent to your computer/mobile phone via USB and/or Bluetooth.
