Audio Technica has announced an improvement to its ATH-ANC7b QuietPoint active noise-cancelling headphones. The over-ear headphone still claim 85 per cent noise reduction thanks to its QuietPoint active noise-cancellation technology, but now claims superior audio performance, with a “smoother, richer and more natural tonal balance”.

The ear-cups have been redesigned for greater comfort, with improved padding, and it’s supplied with two 1.6m and 1m detachable cables, as well as offering easier battery access.

The ATH-ANC7b includes large-aperture 40mm Neodymium-magnet drivers offering a wide 10-25,000Hz frequency response and they should go loud too, with 109dB sensitivity. As with most noise-cancelling designs, the ATH-ANC7b also works in passive mode without batteries.

The headphones fold flat for storage and come with a full-size 0.25in adapter, an airline adapter for connection to in-flight entertainment systems, plus a hard, durable carrying case.

The new ATH-ANC7b is available now online or from mid-August at retailers for £184.
