Chord Electronics held their second summer celebration this week and used the occasion to launch some new products.
The new Cyan Click integrated amplifier using wireless bluetooth technology, an upgraded the Red reference CD player now MkII and CPM 2800 digital integrated Amp.
The event held at Chord’s fantastic Pump house headquarters is where we first got to see the very impressive sound Cyan Click. Offering 130w and with wireless connectivity using Bluetooth. The unit can be controlled via digital and analogue inputs. No price is available as of going to press.
The Bluetooth receiver extracts and decrypts the digital audio data and then sends this directly into the amp’s own digital-to analogue converter. The Bluetooth range is up to 30 metres.
Listening to the system via an ipod sounded fantastic and shows that most people do not know what their music should sound like via a digital source.
Digital connectivity is via a BNC coaxial input, optical Toslink or USB, or analogue sources can be connected by using the XLR balanced inputs or RCA phone inputs.
We were also treated to the new MkII Red reference CD Player (£13,000)which now has Philips CD Pro 2 mechanism and 176.4KHz upsampling data transfer and a nice lens in the CD dome to see the CD.
The Red reference CD player was played via Chords SPM 14000 Monoblocks and CPA 5000 pre Amplifier.
Like the Cyan the CPM 2800 (£5896)is a digital Amplifier but this time is integrated but still using direct and wireless connection via digital and analogue sources.
The CPM 2800 has enhanced coax, optical and USB digital connection. Power output is 120W per channel into 8 Ohms.
Red Reference MkII CD Player retails £13,000, and new CPM 2800 digital amplifier retails at £5895.
