Onkyo are set to launch two new AV receivers the TX-NR807 and TX-SR707 later this year and according to the press release ‘are indisputably the best specified AV receivers that have ever been available at their price points’.
Bold statement indeed for the new Onkyo Amps. Both the TX-NR807 and TX-SR707 have THX Select2 plus, six HDMI inputs, 1080p upscaling and Audyssey DSX and Dolby Pro Logic IIz decoding. The TX-SR707 is set to retail for £700 and the TX-SR807 £800.

On-board both receivers you will find Audyssey DSX to the extensive list of decoding options available.
Audyssey DSX allows owners the choice of incorporating a pair of ‘front wide’ instead of the usual surround back speakers, placed at around 60 degrees off-centre. When the mode is engaged it enhances the surround-sound experience by adding extra presence and depth to the soundstage. Alternatively, Audyssey DSX can also allow additional front speakers to deliver non-directional ’front height’ information (effects such as rain etc), in a similar way to DPL IIz.
Onkyo TX-SR707
The TX-SR807, for instance, comes equipped with a DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 compatible Network Capability that allows it to both replay streaming audio files and access Internet Radio services such as LastFM/vTuner. Another great feature is that the TX-NR807’s firmware can be conveniently updated (when necessary) over the Internet.

To go with the two new receivers from Onkyo will be a brand new Blu-ray player, the DV-BD507.
Offering built-in 1080p upscaling for standard DVDs as well as 1080/24p Full HD video capability and Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD Master Audio, a front-mounted SD card slot, DivX HD playback and AVCHD compatibility.
The DV-BD507 will have BD live and the retail price is yet to be confirmed.
