At the beginning of the year B&W promised us ‘a chance to see a ground breaking new product that will redefine an area of the market in the same way the Zeppelin shook up the iPod speaker world.’ And now in the UK we have official confirmation that the The Panorama is on sale for £1500.
As you’d expect, B&W kept their promise by introducing a completely new premium category. The Panorama is a one-box surround system using nine drive units and digital signal processing to create a package able to deliver deep bass without the need for an external subwoofer. As the name suggest the Panorama offers surround sound from a single housing.
The Panorama uses five drive units for the centre channel section and has a aluminium dome tweeter using the company’s Nautilus Tube Loaded technology, two midrange drivers and two woofers. The other units are used for the surround sound.
And if it’s power your after then the whole unit is driven by six Class D amps, with a total output of 175W. The company says this design, housed in aluminium just like the Zeppelin, produces lot’s of bass for even large rooms.
Audio connections comprise two optical and one coaxial digital audio input, as well as two stereo analog inputs. There is also a subwoofer pass through. The Panorama is designed to suit LCD or Plasma TVs of 37in or larger, Panorama can be used stand alone or using the wall-mounting bracket provided.
