Leema Acoustics are well known to Cinenow readers and Leema have released details of a new reference series. These include a pre amp-Pyxis, Mono power amp called Altair and a high end phono stage the Agena.
The Pyxis pre-amplifier is the first of a new Leema Reference Class of products. The reference Pre-amp is designed to offer a state-of-the-art performance, with customisable range of inputs including both single-ended and balanced analogue inputs, an optional built-in phono-stage and digital inputs for use with digital sources such as computer hard drives. Digital outputs are also included for archiving to computer.
Pyxis Pre Amp
The Pyxis retails for £3995 and features LIPS (Leema Intelligent Protocol System) outputs that feed Leema power amplifiers with a full level signal so that the corresponding volume is set at the input stage of the power amplifiers. This ensures maximum signal to noise ratio and resolution of the audio signal even when listening at very low levels.
The new Leema Acoustics Altair Mono Amp has the ability to produce peaks of over 2 kilowatts and 100 amps. The Altair has the new LIPS (Leema Intelligent Protocol System) feature which can be configured to receive a full level signal from a Leema preamplifier whilst the preamplifier sets the volume at the input stage of the Altair. The new mono amp retails for £8495 each.
Altair Mono Amp
For those who love vinyl, Leema also have a Phono stage named the Agena. This high end phono stage has fully adjustable inputs, each with two separate head-shell settings allow precise matching for up to six phono cartridges, with each selectable at the touch of a button. In addition to the single-ended RCA and fully balanced XLR analogue outputs a reference quality analogue to digital converter feeds USB and SPDIF digital outputs allowing broadcast quality archiving to computer hard-drive or other digital media.
Agena Phono Stage
The Agena retails for £2995 and features include mono, mute, high and low frequency filters, and a sleep mode, which turns off all processing and display circuitry to ensure the very best fidelity when listening.
The new reference series from Leema Acoustics will be available from January 2009.
