Samsung New 82in "Ultra-Definition" LCD

20 mai 2008

Plasma and LCD screens keep getting bigger and bigger and with Samsung’s new 82in Ultra Definition LCD the standard has been raised yet again.
The technology’s been dubbed “ultra-definition”, and while HD resolution tops out at 1920 × 1080, Samsung’s super-sized screen has a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels!

The screen’s UD resolution has also been increased with 120Hz picture frame-rate processing and separate red, green and blue backlights which are built in behind the panel to increase colour saturation.

The Samsung set isn’t the first ever UD screen, because some are already used in oil and gas industries.Executive VP of Samsung’s LCD technology centre Sang Soo Kim,, claimed the 82in LCD allows “viewers to watch motion pictures as if they are really in them”, and that UD is the “optimal display for future TVs”.

The Ultra Definition screen hasn’t been confirmed by Samsung if the LCD is to be released commercially but at this size and quality it is only a matter of time.
