Panasonic has marked its 2008 CES press conference with the announcement of two new screen sizes – a 46-inch Plasma and a 37-inch LCD and demonstrated the new Viera’s ability to play up to 10 hours of HD content from a single SD card.
“VIERA signifies a new visual era,” said Dennis Eppel, Panasonic Vice President, Panasonic North America Display Products Group. “Panasonic now can offer the consumer their choice from 26-inch to 65-inch TVs, all with a consistent cosmetic appearance.”
The VIERA Plasma line features five distinct series (PZ850; PZ800; PZ85; PZ80; PX80), all of which feature new panels, improved contrast ratios, SD Memory Card slots, a new game mode minimizing time lag, HDMI connections, increased luminous efficiency and ‘VIERA Link’. The latter allows the consumer to operate multiple VIERA Link compatible components with one remote.
Panasonic’s VIERA flagship line for 2008 –– the full 1080p Z850 series will feature IP enabled TV – a technology that provides access to online content, such as YouTube and Picasa, directly from the television.
In addition the Z850 series features a Pro Setting Menu, allowing the consumer to access professional calibration software; an improved native resolution contrast ratio of 30,000:1; RS-232C connection; four HDMI connections and a PC input.
