Yamaha YSP-3000 and YSP-4000 : two quality sound bars

Everyone’s out for LCDs these days but there’s a lot to be said about sound quality. That’s why sound bars are getting more popular by the day. Here’s one by Yamaha that provides 5.1 surround with no extra installation needed.

The Yamaha YSP-3000 and YSP-4000 both take after their older bro’ with identical boomers on either side and loads of little speakers that respond to their environment to create a true 5.1 sound. The latest technological refinements were nevertheless integrated to these new babies.

Indeed, they sport two HDMI inputs and one HDMI output that support 1080/24p! HDMI usually entails a scaler: any content will be upscaled to 720p or 1080I.

Intellibeam is still on the menu and enables the essential calibration of the device. All you have to do is press the button on the remote and use the supplied microphone. If you don’t want to disturb someone in the same room as you while watching your favorite series you can use the MyBeam function. It allows you to direct the sound beam toward one person and one person only! A new MySurround mode simulates 5.1 surround sound without using the walls to bounce off the sound.

YSP-4000

The YSP-3000 and YSP-4000 are also equiped with a RDS radio tuner and a 3.5 mm jack audio input. The sound coming form a mp3 player or radio is converted to 5.1 surround thanks to the Dolby ProLogic II. The Compressed Music Enhancer improves sound quality from mp3 and wma sources.

YSP-3000

The Yamaha YSP-3000 is 80 cm wide and matches perfectly 32 to 37-in screens. It will be available in October at 900€. The Yamaha YS¨P-4000, wider, suits 42-in screens and it will also be available in October at the slightly higher price of 1300€.
