7 novembre 2006

Panasonic announced today that they will start selling their flagship beauty, the 103-inch 1080p Plasma, under the reference TH-103ST/WK, truly living up to their strategy : Ideas for Life.

With 2,3 meters of horizantal image, if you have about 8 feet of free wall space and 100,000 € in your bank account then you can now be the proud owner of the largest Plasma in the World ! Don’t forget that this exceptional monster alone weighs about 220 kilos, and, it goes without saying, that it has to be installed by top qualified professionals. We have been quoted the above pricing with VAT and a full installation in the French market, whereas some prices seen around may not be all inclusive.

TH-103ST/WK

The Full HDTV resolution delivers more than two million pixels (1,920 × 1,080) of performance with 4,096 equivalent steps of gradation per color. The “Super Cinema Mode” offers blacker blacks and a stunning 5,000:1 contrast in dark surroundings. The TH-103ST/WK incorporates the new System LSI, based on proprietary Panasonic integrated architecture, with an HD Optimizer that detects and reduces MPEG noise as it receives digital HD signals, producing crisp and clear images. To maximize the performance of the panel, a 1080p driver supports 16-bit image processing that produces razor-sharp motion pictures.

Panasonic is launching its flagship Plasma for the ultimate home entertainment lifestyle experience in a market for flat screens which is literally exploding. Europe represents a very attractive potential. It is anticipated that by 2010 that 65% of all TVs will be flat screens, compared with 38% at the present time, with plasmas holding a 20% share.

Blu-ray DMP-BD10 Player

Panasonic was also proud to showcase their Blu-ray DMP-BD10 player available in Europe for a MSRP of 1690€ as the perfect complement to their flagship Plasma as it offers a P4HD processor for stunning results. It offers lossless audio and 1080p video output via an HDMI port. Panasonic is betting on the new generation Blu-ray double layer discs to arrive in 2007, boosting capacity to 50 Gb from the current 25 Gb, for improved quality and richer availablity of content.
