Kaleidescape, the market leader in entertainment servers with some extremely swanky devices, announces new entry-level system.
It’s been a while since Kaleidescape treated us to a new system. The last one was the K-2500, starting to show it’s age with the rapid digital evolution. The new Server 1U is a lot different from its predecessor:- It’s less bulky, at least 5 times slimmer
- It’s storage capacity has been reduced down to “only” 2.25 Terra Octets (2250 Go, or 10 times greater than a top-of-the-range computer) from 5.5 for the K-2500.
- Its operating system, the KEAOS has been upgraded to the 3.2 version.
- New sleek design.
- First-time music-only offering.
And last but not least : the price! In an attempt to provide “the most engaging and exciting entertainment experience for the home” (sic Michael Malcom, CEO) “at a new more affordable pricing that will provide the opportunity for a large number of people to enjoy”, namely 13,339€ instead of 33,000€! That’s a considerable 55% cheaper than the previous entry-level system.
The Kaleidescape 1U Server was designed to reliably store uncompressed high-quality movies and music on a modern array of hard disc drives. It can deliver 25 audio streams in any Player-equipped rooms. A single 1U Server can store up to 335 DVDs or 3,750 CDs. Multiple servers can be clustered in a single System to store thousands of movies and tens of thousands of albums as a single collection.
The new Movie Player 2 complements the 1U Server nicely. Designed in the same 1U format, the Movie Player 2 allows you to import music and video from any location within the home and play rented or borrowed DVDs that can’t legally be copied onto your system.
Optional side bezels are available for free-standing installations of Kaleidescape products..
