For the first time anywhere, the Profile Diamond Black Special Edition finishing was seen recently in Paris where we had the opportunity to talk with Gérard Chrétien, Managing Director of Focal-JMLab, who gave us a close-up look at this real Black Beauty.
Launched just a year ago, the 900 series was the creation of new concept for Focal-JMLab to create “easy to live with” speakers that are “lifestyle integrated" and, most importantly, cater to the woman in the house. To integrate the WAF factor, beauty with high technology, it took 3 years of R&D and involved the Parisien Design company Pineau et Le Porcher.

The new superb finishing on these speakers, as you will see in the clip, looks like Piano Black Lacquer, but to keep the price reasonable (only about a 10% increase !) Focal-JMLab came up with a sophisticated acrylic finish. The speakers in this Profile Diamond Black Special Edition offer all the same superb advantages of 900 series with their patented W sandwich design, a new tweeter with 10 times reduced distortion as well as all the other benefits from the extensive R&D that have made the reputation of the high-end Beryllium line speakers.
