CES 2006 in Video : Cabasse launches La Sphère

26 janvier 2006

The Cabasse demonstration rooms were located in a salon called the THE Show right near Alexis Park to launch La Sphère, what may turn out to be THE most innovative new speaker at the CES 2006. From the technical specs and the sound it produces it appears that Cabasse has really come up with something that is not just the French flair for a sexy name.

In fact, this looks to create a new dimension in the long tradition of innovative R&D starting in the 50's, when Cabasse launched its first coaxial system, to develop drivers and speakers that produce the closest possible equivalence to live music. In the early 90's they launched their first tri-axial speaker based on the principle of the Spatially Coherent Systems, SCS.

The R&D team has been working several years to perfect La Sphère which is fitted with the QC55, a 4-way coaxial unit, offering a flat response from 30 to 22,000 Hz. This coaxial layout combined with the Cabasse digital filters results in perfect coherency between the direct and off-axis sound.

In our clip you will get a close-up view of the cut-away above which is the heart of this state-of-the-art point source system with 4 drivers but only one central acoustical source. Click HERE or on the image below to start our clip and see this first hand.

For more information on La Sphère you can read our recent News several weeks ago HERE. Hopefully we will soon have one of these "new species" in our hands for a while to bring you an even more complete analysis of this extremely innovative concept. Also keep posted here for more details on availability in you area.
