CES 2006 in Video : Canon

23 janvier 2006

Canon was showing off this year at the CES 2006 its new technologies in all its market segments. High-Definition is the key word and that is the link that this giant is taking real advantage of, building on its well-renown market image (!) and position in the camera industry where its optical lenses are exceptional (we use them !) to make very serious inroads into the multimedia projector sector.

In our clip you will see the absolutely huge stand with all the camera and camcorder HD video equipment you could ever dream for and the printers to go with them. Of particular interest was their new camera, HDV XL-H1. You will see as well in the clip their full catalogue of video projectors including the demonstration area of Realis High Resolution projectors.

That’s just great for today and the “foreseeable” future, but there was much more to be seen and experienced. The big highlight this year was the SED Technology Theatre where there was a demonstration ABSOLUTELY not to be missed for those who had not seen this technology before (see our series of News on the site of the Canon Paris Expo 2005) .

This new technology called SED, which is short (thankfully !) for Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display, is jointly developed by Canon and Toshiba and considered by many as what will be THE new generation of high-quality large flat-screen display. It offers exceptional image quality, and we can confirm that first hand having attended the demonstration in Paris. The comparison with plasma and LCD is quite impressive to say the least. Seeing is believing.
