Technology & Imagination is what Akai announces, and it certainly was just that at the CES this year. To demonstrate their general public strategy, Akai created a stand that was clearly orientated Display, Display, Display with a complete showcase of High Definition screens.
As you can see in the clip, there were a complete range of the latest generation LCDs with ultra fast response time, high contrast, well, the works ! in addition to a nicely designed range of 42" and 50" plasmas.
What attracted most our attention was their unveiling of a series of ultra flat rear projection TVs equipped with the new LED technology. Created by Texas Instruments, this new technology offers numerous advantages including better color depth and balance, much higher contract, improved response time with the color refresh rate 48x the standard TV frame rate... In any case, Samsung who will ship the first commercially available DLP HDTV with an LED light engine in 2006 in no longer alone with this promising technology... to be followed and closely...
Finally, there were also some more "classical" models as you will see but it should be noted inside of the 55" TV was the Texas Instruments HD5 DLP chip, which should soon be available, at least in the US...
