Samsung adds to its best-in-class Combo line with the value-driven DVD-V5500 and DVD-V8500 players. Besides offering superior 480P DVD playback both players integrate a four -head hi-fi VCR into the same player, ensuring uncomplicated hook-up and easy playback no matter the media type (except VCD). Both players sport sleek designs with front A/V input jacks. The DVD-V8500 also supports a 10-in-2 multi-card reader for digital photo viewing that accepts virtually every popular format of memory card, including SD, Compact Flash, Mini SD, XD, MMC, Smart Media, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro.
For HDTV owners seeking the same DVD/VHS versatility in a single package, Samsung ups the ante with its new DVD-V9500. The player combines DVD and VCR capabilities along with the company's advanced hi-def conversion technology that up-converts a DVD's native resolution (480p) to output high-definition formats (720p/768p/1080i). This allows HDTV owners to view their existing collections of DVDs and VHS tapes in high- resolution formats. An HDMI port facilitates connections between components Like the DVD-V8500, the DVD-V9500 supports a 10-in-2 multi-card reader. And, the DVD-V9500 includes a multi-TV remote control.
The DVD-V5500 will be available in February for an MSRP of $159. The DVD-V8500 will be available in May for an MSRP of $199. The DVD-V9500 will be available in June for an MSRP of $249.
