LAS VEGAS— Yamaha Electronics Corporation, the leader in digital audio production and reproduction, debuts new additions to its successful line of NS speakers, the 225 PMD Series and 125 Series of digital home theater speaker systems. Each speaker has been designed to match thin-line home theater components, plasma monitors or flat-screen TVs.

Targeted to consumers who want to enjoy high-quality, full-range sound within limited space availability, the 225 PMD Series is a digital home theater speaker system that uses a lightweight, durable magnesium-coated speaker diaphragm. The result is full range of motion, low distortion and minimal vibration.

The 225 PMD Series is composed of the NS-225F 2-Way Bass Reflex Tower Speaker System, the NS-M225 2-Way Acoustic Suspension Speaker System and the NS-C225 2-Way Acoustic Suspension Center Speaker System; each speaker is rated at 120W.

Ideal for home theater use, each speaker combines high-power capabilities with extreme sensitivity and dynamic range. For increased performance, the 225 Series is equipped with an extremely durable lightweight Polymer-injected Mica Diaphragm (PMD) woofer cone that produces a fast response speed.

The high-performance 1-1/8” tweeter features a dome made of an aluminum–magnesium alloy, with a direct bobbin (integrated diaphragm and voice coil). The tweeter is also extremely light and durable to minimize overall performance loss and capable of up to 50kHz, which is rare for a 1-1/8” dome tweeter. Sound performances are crisp and clear even at high power levels.

Thirty percent of the diaphragm is composed of high-quality white Indian pearl Mica, chosen for its excellent sound quality characteristics, and every speaker cabinet is crafted to precision with high-quality wood and finished with a luxurious polyurethane open-pore coating. For superior sound quality, each cabinet has been designed to reduce diffraction and standing waves and to take full advantage of reverberation of natural wood. The finishes available are cherry, white, silver and black.

In addition, the NS-225F has a Bass Anchor with a heavy-duty round steel plate that provides stable support and dampens vibrations to create a deeper sound. The 225 PMD series speakers have high-quality brass and gold-plated terminals for the highest signal conductivity.

The 125 series of digital home theater speaker systems is made up of the NS-125F 2-Way Bass Reflex Tower Speaker System and the NS-P125 Center and Surround Speaker Package (NS-M125 2-Way Bass Reflex Speaker System and the NS-C125 2-Way Bass Reflex Center Speaker System.)

Following in the successful footsteps of the NS-10M professional used studio reference monitors, the 125 series speakers use similar dual white cone woofers for enhanced sensitivity and durability that are capable of 120W of power. The high performance 7/8” Balanced Dome Tweeter is a refined version of the balanced dome design for the highly acclaimed NS-10MMF studio reference monitors.

In addition, the NS-125F features two bass reflex ports precisely tuned to achieve the best low frequency response and maximize the speaker speed movement; a Bass Anchor with a heavy-duty round steel plate that provides stable support and dampens vibrations; and high-quality brass and gold-plated terminals the highest signal conductivity.

All speakers are magnetic shielded to avoid distortion-causing interference when placed close to a TV or monitor.

The NS-225 PMD Series (NS-225F $449.95, NS-C225 $179.95, NS-M225 $229.95) and NS-125 Series (NS-125F $229.95, NS-C125 $99.95, NS-M125 $109.95), of Digital Home Theater Speaker Systems all ship in April 2005 and can be seen during the CES 2005 show at Yamaha's booth (#9844) in the center hall, Las Vegas Convention Center, beginning January 6.
