Binghamton, NY December 3, 2004 —McIntosh Laboratory, a world leader in home entertainment systems for over 55 years, introduces the MS300 Music Server, a 300GB digital music management system.
With a huge 300GB hard drive and integrated web interface capabilities, the McIntosh MS300 Music Server will effortlessly catalog, access and manage well over 1000 CDs at true bit-for-bit fidelity on its internal hard drive or, depending on compression rate, over 50,000 songs. A new Free Lossless Audio Compression (FLAC) encoding and decoding element eliminates the inherent loss of data common in MP3 compression resulting in a distinct improvement when ripping music from CDs. Navigating through menus is uncomplicated via an on screen interface that makes it simple to find and play any song, album, play list or artist in the collection.
The MS300 Music Server has the advantage of a PC compatible file sharing service allowing consumers to transfer and copy audio files back and forth between a PC and the MS300 as well as performing system back-up and restore. Adding to the ease of use, the MS300 can be controlled from a web page from any PC on the network thru the MS300s internal Web server.
The MS300 is scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 2005 at a suggested retail price of $5,100. The MS300 will be officially introduced at CES 2005 and can be seen along with McIntosh's other outstanding electronics and loudspeakers at the McIntosh Booth at Alexis Park in the Executive Board Room and Board Rooms A, B, C, and D.
