Pine Brook , NJ, January 6, 2005 — Denon Electronics, the industry's leading manufacturer of high-quality home theater receivers, today introduced the
AVR-4806, a multi-zone audio/video receiver that provides many of today's most advanced surround sound and distribution capabilities. The AVR-4806
(SRP: $3,500), previously referred to as the AVR-4805, will be showcased at Denon's CES Booth # 20401 (LVCC – South Hall) along with the flagship
AVR-5805 (SRP: $6,000) and the company's entire family of advanced home theater receivers.
Breakthrough MultEQ xt TM Technology, Seven Discrete Amplifiers and More
The Denon AVR-4806 offers many of the same unprecedented features as the company's new flagship AVR-5805 receiver, including the groundbreaking MultEQ xt TM technology from Audyssey Laboratories for optimum sound quality in up to eight listening positions. W ith its seven discrete amplifiers and multiple-channel output, the AVR-4806 provides independent audio and video processing capabilities and a configurable amplifier section that lets users enjoy a versatile multi-zone home entertainment experience from a single component. Users can enjoy three independent home entertainment zones, with three different audio/video sources running simultaneously. In addition, multi-zone preamplifier outputs provide independent power, source and volume control for each zone.
Total Surround Sound Compatibility and Connectivity
The AVR-4806 is compatible with every popular 6.1 and 5.1-channel surround sound format from Dolby and dts to THX Ultra2 Cinema and Music, as well as THX Surround EX decoding. It also features Dolby Headphone technology for private surround sound enjoyment. Its full complement of advanced audio and video processing capabilities include HDMI/DVI digital video selection, HDMI 1.1 decoding (which decodes DVD-Audio). In addition, the AVR-4806 offers the most extensive complement of connection options of any receiver in the industry, including three high-bandwidth (100 MHz), HDTV-compatible component video inputs, IEEE-1394 and much more. For the ultimate in total home connectivity and future-readiness, the AVR-4806 also includes an Ethernet port for control and future upgrades.
The AVR-4806 is designed to create the optimum soundfield for any room no matter what the acoustics are like. To this end, it incorporates the leading edge MultEQ xt TM technology from Audyssey Laboratories. The first-ever technology to correct adverse acoustical effects of rooms for multiple listeners, MultEQ xt automatically calibrates the home theater system by setting the proper playback levels, speaker distance, and satellite-subwoofer blending.
The AVR-4806 leverages the performance of the TMS320DA610 Aureus™ audio digital signal processor from Texas Instruments. With 250 MHz of 32/64-bit advanced processing performance, the DA610 enables Denon to incorporate cutting edge features like MultEQ™ to maximize audio system capabilities and easily deliver a compelling, realistic listening experience. Additionally, both the Room EQ and Auto Set-Up features can be disabled for installers and consumers who prefer to calibrate their receivers in the traditional manner.
In addition, the AVR-4806 features Denon's state-of-the-art Auto Set-Up and Room Correction feature, which makes it possible to completely customize the listening experience for any room.
The receiver's remarkable surround sound capabilities are enhanced by innovations such as Burr-Brown PCM-1791 24-bit/192kHz audio DACs for all channels and advanced AL24 Processing on all c hannels.
Advanced Image-Enhancing Technologies
For the ultimate in home theater image reproduction, the AVR-4806 features component video up-conversion that automatically up-converts the input signal (composite video, S-video) from a DVD player, VCR or camcorder, up-converting it to a component video signal for hookup to a compatible TV. In addition,
S-video up-and down-conversion automatically converts the input signal to match the TV input and maximize signal quality. To further enhance connectivity, the
AVR-4806 features HDMI and DVI-D (HDCP) video switching. As an added bonus, the AVR-4806 includes the proprietary Denon Link connection and IEEE-1394 ports as well as a RS-232 port for control.
Like other high-performance Denon A/V receivers, the AVR-4806 includes a full array of custom installation A/V receiver features, such as assignable high current DC trigger outputs (4) and a RS-232 port to facilitate not only integrated system operation, but for PC connectivity for system setup. Also included is the latest version of Denon Link 3, which allows the receiver to receive high-resolution, multi-channel digital audio data directly from the Denon DVD-5900/DVD-5910 and DVD-3910 Universal DVD players (and future Denon products) for the ultimate level of sonic performance. The AVR-4806 is also supplied with a new, improved EL programmable remote control. The Denon AVR-4806 will be available in April for a suggested retail price of $3,500. Other high-performance receivers in Denon's line include the AVR-3805 (SRP: $1,199) and AVR-2805 ($899), as well as the AVR-2105 ($649), AVR-1905 ($499), and AVR-1705 ($399).
