Here we are back in the Center Hall in front of the magnificent (as usual !) Samsung stand, where we discover with great pleasure a whole series of new products for our Home Cinema installation of tomorrow.
You can't miss the largest Plasma screen in the world, measuring 80 inches in diagonal. Keep posted as we will be bringing you more details and pictures of this "must" for 2004.

Samsung has received CES 2004 Design and Engineering Innovations honors for its 4th generation plasma, the HPP5091, a 50-inch Wide Screen HD Integrated-Wireless Plasma TV, due to its large size, great picture quality and particularly the innovative marriage with wireless technology.

In practical terms, the HPP5091 which offers a wireless media box with a range of 30 feet, with built-in NTSC and ATSC tuners, plus A/V, Component, DVI and HDMIconnections, is truly a new state-of-the-art home theatre concept. The HPP5091 is beauty for the eye inside and out, as it demonstrates superb picture quality with its superior brightness (1,000 cd/m2) and excellent contrast ratio (3000:1).

Samsung also unveils its next-generation audio/videophile DVD players, the DVD-HD841 and the DVD-HD941. Successors to the 2003 CES Innovations Award-winning DVD-HD931, both players use a fully digital process to provide high-definition resolution such as 1080i, 768p, and 720p signals, and host advanced features such as DVI and HDMIoutputs for uncompressed digital video, as well as Faroudja's DCDi™ video de-interlacing technology. Both new models offer increased audio capabilities as well, including Super Audio CD (SACD) and DVD-Audio.

To complete the DVD section, three DVD recorders are present are presented this year: DVD-R100, DVD-VR300 and the DVD-HD800, which accept DVD-RAM and DVD-R/-RW formats. The difference is in the storage capacity as the DVD-HD800 offers a HD of 120 GB.

Developed for the HDTV market, Samsung introduces HLP5685W 56-inch Wide Screen Monitor with DLP Technology. More honors here too with the CES' Best of Innovations 2004 for the video category, the HLP5685W is designed with the new HD2 Plus Texas Instrument DMD Chipset and the samsung Proprietary Cinema Smooth™ Gen 4 Optic System with outstanding black levels that give a 3000:1 contrast ratio. Functional enhancements include discreet IR code operation DVI, HDMIand PC inputs, plus 3 HD component inputs.

To complete the list of announcements in the new product range, Samsung will introduce, in addition to its larger models ranging up to 40-inches, three lines of LCD TVs, the 15-inch LTN1535, 17-inch LTN1735 and 20-inch LTP2035 designed to meet multiple home entertainment applications at affordable prices. And not to be missed is Samsung's first LCD TV/DVD Combo, the 17-inch LTP179DW, which also utilizes the PC/PIP function and boasts impressive brightness and contrast ratios (600 cd/m2 and 450:1).

DVD Players LAS VEGAS, NV - January 8, 2004 - Samsung Electronics America, Inc., an award-winning pioneer in the DVD category, announces the advent of audio/videophile quality DVD entertainment with the introduction of its next-generation of up-conversion-DVD players, the DVD-HD841 and the DVD-HD941. Delivering stunning, cinema-quality DVD playback, the players use a fully digital process to provide high-definition resolution such as 1080i, 768p, and 720p signals, making it ideal for consumers who want to get the most out of their HD displays and existing DVD titles. The DVD-HD841 and the DVD-HD941 are the successors to the hugely successful 2003 CES Innovations Award-winning DVD-HD931. These products have a host of advanced features such as DVI and HDMIoutputs for uncompressed digital video, and Faroudja's DCDi? video de-interlacing technology for even better video performance. Currently, consumers who have upgraded their home theaters with HDTVs do not have an abundance of high-definition programming available. The DVD-HD841 and the DVD-HD941 offer an alternate solution by up-converting a DVD's native resolution (480p) to output high-definition formats (720p/1080i). The most impressive attribute of this up-converting process is that it takes place completely in the digital domain, which eliminates data loss and other artifacts associated with analog convergence. As a result, the process opens up a vast library of DVD material for consumers who want to watch digitally enhanced movies on their HDTV displays and enjoy the highest quality video and audio available on the DVD market.

The DVD-HD941 additionally features no-compromise video performance enhancements like Faroudja's Directional Correlational De-interlacing (DCDi?) technology, HDMIoutput, black level adjustment, increased resolution settings and discrete IR codes. Faroudja's DCDi? eliminates the jagged edges that appear when standard interlaced video is viewed on progressive-scan displays for a smooth and natural picture.

The DVD-HD841 will be available in Q3 '04 at an MSRP of $249.99 and the DVD-HD941 will be available in Q3 '04 for an MSRP of $349.99.

Boasting a 50-inch screen (diagonal) with a one-piece brushed aluminum frame for an elegant look, the HPP5091 can pass for art and does not compromise picture quality. Its superior brightness (1,000 cd/m2) and contrast ratio (3000:1) ensure a robust and sharp image. The inclusion of Samsung's latest version of a proprietary digital processor, DNIe? The full 4th Generation plasma TV line includes the 42-inch SPP4231, an ED monitor with 852 x 480 pixel resolution, a brightness of 1,000 cd/m2 and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. An additional 42-inch model, the SPP4251, includes SRS TruSurround XT? technology and comes housed in a stunning new cabinet design with built-in speakers, while the HPN4239 provides a 42-inch, High Definition, 1,024 x 768 HD monitor. Rounding out the line-up is the 50-inch HPP5061, a non-wireless HD monitor.

The SPP4231 has an MSRP of $4,299.99 and will be available in April 2004 and the SPP4251 has an MSRP of $4,499.99 and will be available in April 2004. The HPN4239 is currently available and has an MSRP of $6499.99. The HPP5061 has an MSRP of $8,999.99 and will also be available in April 2004 while the HPP5091 has an MSRP of $12,999.99 and will be available at consumer electronics establishments nationwide by Summer 2004.

DLP TV
Samsung Electronics America, Inc., an innovative pioneer of DTV technologies, today announced the introduction of the HLP5685W 56" Wide Screen HDTV Monitor with DLP Technology. Crowned CES' Best of Innovations 2004 for the video category, the HLP5685W will be on display at the Samsung booth #11027 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 8th - 11th.

LCD TV For Everyone!
The 35 Series promises to bring LCD TV technology to the masses. The 15-inch LTN1535, 17-inch LTN1735 and 20-inch LTP2035 provide stunning picture quality in a simple and elegant cabinet design that's suitable for any setting. With a built-in analog TV tuner and a variety of video inputs, you can watch TV or a video source just about anywhere you wish. With the 35 Series, picture quality is still premium even if the price is not.

Multi-Purpose LCD TV
The LCD line extends with the 45 Series, offering consumers a multi-purpose monitor, able to serve as both a TV and PC monitor in an ultra-slim design. The 15-inch LTP1545, 17-inch LTP1745 and 20-inch LTP2045 include component video inputs, better contrast ratios and enhanced audio. These sets also feature the PC/Picture-In-Picture (PC/PIP) function, which allows users to multitask by watching TV or a video source while working on the PC and a unique dual purpose pedestal stand doubles as a wall mount.
The Starting Point of a True Home Theater Samsung serves the top of the market with its 26-inch LTP266W (NTSC tuner built-in) and 32-inch LTP326W (dual NTSC tuners built-in) models. These are LCD TVs capable of functioning as a stunning centerpiece to a state-of-the-art Home Theatre with gorgeous styling, a thin bezel cabinet and removable pedestal. Both units feature 1280 x 768 screen resolution, 600:1 contrast ratio, 500cd/m2 brightness ratings with an impressive response time of 16ms. To satisfy top end sound, both units employ premium audio systems. The LTP266W features 5WX2 Audio, and SRS TruSurround XT?, which solves the problem of playing 5.1 multi-channel content - as nearly all current DVDs have - by transforming the material into magnificent virtual surround sound from just two speakers and creating a stunning 3D sound stage. The established standard for virtual surround sounds, TruSurround XT? also features SRS Dialog Clarity? and TruBass?. Samsung's First LCD TV/DVD Combo
In addition to these LCD TVs, Samsung is introducing its first LCD TV/DVD Combo, the 17-inch LTP179DW. This progressive scan LCD TV/DVD combo also utilizes the PC/PIP function and boasts impressive brightness and contrast ratios (600 cd/m2 and 450:1). The LTP179DW is perfect for the consumer who wants a quality LCD/DVD set-up but does not have space to spare.
The LTN1535 (MSRP $649.99) and the LTN1735 (MSRP $849.99) are currently available. The LTP2035 will have an MSRP of 1,199.99 and will be available in March 2004. The LTP1545 (MSRP $699.99), the LTP1745 (MSRP 899.99) and the LTP2045 (MSRP 1,299.99) will all be available in May 2004, while the LTP266W (MSRP $2,999) and LTP326W (MSRP $4,499) will be available in June 2004.
