Their First DLP

After recently attacking the Plasma market with their PLA-50FP1, Integra, the upper crust branch of the Japanese giant Onkyo, have launched a new video projector on the market: the DLV-100 DLP.

RememberYou may remember that we had already presented the number one video branch of the brand with which the Japanese manufacturer is attacking a number of competitors in the HDTV sector… Here again, they’re yet again imposing their brand, attacking with the aid of the company Faroudja (you don’t change a winning team!!!), in the projector market. It’s worth noting that the latter has not intervened in the elaboration of the machine, but simply in the design of a video processor (FPV-1), which, as for the plasma, will have a complementary function.

The DLV-100 DLP is part of the already large family of ultra-portables (less than 2 kg.). It utilises, as its suffix indicates, DLP video processing technology, developed by Texas Instruments. This little beast is able to pump out, despite it’s feather weight, an image which, according to the first tests, would be worthy of a much bigger machine, and is thus among the best of its class. It has to be said that for its size (that of half a scrim of A4 paper), the DLV-100 DLP disposes of quality electronic components: a 0.7 inch DMD matrix, compatible with 4/3 and 16/9 formats and a native resolution in XGA of 1024 x 768 pixels. In addition, the use of a UHP lamp of 150 watts allows for the output of 1000 Lumens in normal mode and 750 lumens in “Long Life” mode.

As for the interface, the DLV-100 DLP accepts virtually all types of video signals (composite, S-Video and RGB computer output). Note also that the video processor (FPV-1), if needed, will pick up the relay, if the user takes care to connect the desired sources to it, utilising only the RS-232 input of the projector.

The kit, as described here, is on sale in the US at a price of $10,500 (11,766 Euros). It is nevertheless possible to obtain the DLV-100 DLP all by itself for a price of $7,000 or some 7,845 Euros.
