PLAYSTATION 2 – HOT SALES!!!

Sony has just announced that more than 20 million PS2 game consoles have been sold around the world (almost 10 million in 6 months). The Japanese firm has published the following figures:

The Asian market which, with Japan was the first in which the console was sold (4th March 2000), has accounted for almost 6,86 million units.

North America is at the head of the table, having sold, since October 26th 2000 more than 8.55 million units.

Europe, the last to have launched the PS2, is the zone where the fewest have been sold: 4.63 Million since 24th November.

In addition, Sony has been selling, since the end of September (in Japan) special collectors editions. The manufacturer is offering, in very small quantities, 5 different colours with metallic or lacquered finish. The European market will eventually see these on the shelves, but when and how is another question!
