My first Piano
Specialised in the manufacture of video projectors, PLUS has launched a new product onto the Asian Display market – the PIANO HE-3100.
The HE-3100 is the product of close co-operation between the laboratories of Texas instruments and those of PLUS. With a rather discreet appearance, thanks to its size (235 x 198 x 91 mm), its weight (2 Kg) and its different colours (five in total), this projector is based on DLP technology, with a very complete list of features, making it the key product of the brand, and a serious candidate for the "mini" DLP hit parade.
Under the bonnet, built around a DMD matrix of 0.67 inches with a native resolution in XGA of 1024 x 768 pixels, we find that Texas instruments have installed a new chromatic wheel. Completely revised, instead of housing four colours (red, green, blue and white), there are now only three.
Three colours that have first been doubled and disposed face to face on a glass disc in order to refine the details and erase the RGB effect (well known to owners of DLP machines).
We have also noted that the engineers have chosen to install a UHP lamp of 130 watts, which, as well as having quality electronics, allows for a projection format choice of 4/3 or 6/9, with around 450 lumens and contrast of 700:1.
In addition, the user will have the possibility of electrically varying the keystone, as well as manually zooming and focussing. In terms of interfacing, we note that despite the absence of BNC inputs (which would have had a better effect) we find the old favourites: a composite doubled in Hushiden for the S-video, a DVi input for computers, and, of course, component input.
Sold on the Asian market for a price of 298000 Yen (around 2600 Euros), the PLUS Piano HE-3100 will be on sale in Europe from October
