The First Episode on DVD
Speculation had been running rife as to the possibility of a DVD edition of the first episode of Starwars. While some had already begun the murmur in March, the confirmation has just been flashed onto the official Starwars site and on one of the most important US DVD forums.
The Phantom Menace will thus be the first episode of the series to be edited in DVD.
Currently in the conception process, this version, much awaited by the fans, will of course carry the THX label. It will be accompanied, as for most of the editions carrying this certification, with the optimisation programme, known as "THX
Optimode".
In terms of content, this will be a DVD encoded in Zone 1 and presented in Wide-screen Anamorphic. The sound track will be in 5.1
Surround EX (English) and Dolby Surround (English, French and Spanish).
The Phantom Menace will be on the US Shop Shelves from the 16th October 2001 for a price of $29.98 in the form of a two-disc box set.
