DLP Technology at an Affordable Price

Precursor and major player in the field of home video projection, the company Dreamvision, after having produced their first arms in the world of tri-tubes, are today comforting their position as French leader in the DLP sector, with the release of their latest baby: the Lighty.

One shouldn’t forget that in less than eight months, Dreamvision had already proposed no less than three new products based on DLP technology: Starlight, MoviStar and MoviStar Plus. Following on, the Lighty is proof of a will to target increasingly demanding customers – notably in terms of value for money… a machine that best meets their requirements.

The machine is small in size: 90(L) x 218(H) x 252(l), for a weight of 2.3 kg. This doesn’t prevent it from delivering excellent performance levels for a price of less than 4500 Euros.

Equipped with a lamp of 120 watts and a luminosity of close to 800 lumens for a maximum resolution of 800 x 600, the Lighty will perhaps soon become the best friend of your Home Cinema installation, capable of delivering a bright, crisp image (no stepping effects) on a screen with a 2 metre base.

When it comes to adjustments, the Lighty is, of course, wide screen and 4/3 compatible, with a zoom as well as a manual focus. Its positioning on a table or on, the ceiling can be done with no hassles, thanks to a digital keystone adjustment of around 16 degrees - something quite rare on a single-lamp machine which normally wouldn’t have this kind of adjustment, being carried out in "practice" with the aid of brackets.

It should be added that Dreamvision are hitting hard, commercialising the machine at a price defying virtually all competition: 4350 Euros, which is quite a surprising price, especially for a DLP solution.
