Quality with Non-Variable Geometry…
The French manufacturer TRIANGLE has a rare and respectable talent- that of conceiving and building themselves their full range of speakers equipping these acoustic extravaganzas. A discipline in which they have been excelling for almost 20 years now. (the company was launched in 1981), under the impetus of Mr. Renaud de Vergnette, backed up by a team with unquestionable savoir-faire, unanimously recognised by the professionals.
It is thus perhaps not by chance that other speaker manufacturers – albeit reputed – call upon the services of TRIANGLE, when it comes to elaborating the transducers to meet very strict guidelines, as much with regard to pure quality as to musical reproduction.
With the success in the esteem and listening quality of the XS range, (now divided into two sub-sections, entitled ECRAN and GRAND ANGLE), TRIANGLE is back this time with a much more affordable Home Cinema pack, which by the same token doesn’t sacrifice anything in terms of quality of reproduction and the presentation which is always an important factor of the brand.
The "Séquence Zapping" set, that we’re talking about here, was already seen by many among you during the "Mondial" Sound and Image Exhibition, at which TRIANGLE was of course one of the numerous exhibitors. It is made up of a total of five speakers in an instantly recognisable "orangy" finish: it is obtained by veneering with pear-wood on a structure of medium-density panels.
Each of these pieces integrates, of course, speakers of similar materials, guarantee of a perfect coherence in the acoustic landscape when it comes to the multiple sound movements imposed by Home Cinema signals on all the channels.
Thus, the membranes utilised in the low-midrange units employ a structure based on long cellulose fibre pulp, technology specific to TRIANGLE, who have strict controls on the parasitic resonance susceptible to stem from the hollow sections of the mobile parts.
The magnetic circuit, doubly wound on a Kapton support (one layer inside and one outside) is also one of the classic pieces of the manufacturer: apart from the fact of assuring high output by the optimisation of inductor forces, this procedure eliminates all risk of thermal jumps, thus stabilising the overall functioning of the speaker.
The bowl in injected aluminium offers, for its part, unconditional rigidity to the whole structure, while favouring the efficient dispersal of excess calories.
The 25 mm titanium tweeter dome is adroitly loaded in the centre of a horn, completed by a phasing element to improve directional control.
As for the splitting between bass and midrange transducers, this is done without any problems between 6 and 7,5 kHz depending upon the models. This perfect harmony between the channels demonstrates the benefits of a total control in the chain of conception and the production of the speakers by the same entity.
The management of the main speakers can be put in the hands of two basically identical types of transducers… the only difference being in their physical presentation.
The POLARIS comes in the shape of an elegant medium sized two-way column and disposes of a relatively heavy charge enabling an efficient reproduction of low frequencies.
The advantage of the HEXO lies in its compactness and ease of placement (shelf-top). Both are equipped with a low-midrange of 16 cm diameter, along with the tweeter mentioned above, completed with a bass reflex as is given away by the circular vent on the façade. In addition, dual cabling has been catered for on both models.
The Central Channel speaker of the "Zapping" has the major task of delivering around 70% of the information contained in the Dolby or DTS soundtracks, which includes the occasionally delicate reproduction of dialogues.
To this end, it is equipped with two low-midrange cones of 10 cm diameter and the famous titanium dome tweeter. All the transducers are magnificently shielded, which means you can place the unit close to your video screen without the risk of engendering interference.
The "Zapping" effects speakers are able, due to their compact size, to be placed in a multitude of décors. They integrate the same 10 cm cellulose pulp woofer and tweeter already found on the rest of the range, confirming, yet again, the perfect coherence of this pack.
