Remote Controls to Go-Go!...
3 Infrared Remote Controls have been presented, allowing one to use the DVD player of the PSX2 at a distance – not produced by Sony, but by the accessory specialists Inter act, Saitek and Mad catz.
These infrared controllers allow for the total command of the functions of the DVD: multi-angle, choice of languages, sub-titles, chaptering, etc.
Their utilisation necessitates the connection onto the joystick output of the PSX 2 of an infrared captor. This manipulation has however one disadvantage: the user has to unplug the captor every time he or she wants to play in multi-player mode.
It should also be mentioned that these remote controls also allow for the management of other apparatus (TV’s, VCR’s etc.).
Currently available in the USA, with prices situated between 15 and 20 US$, they will be available in Europe to coincide with the launch of the console.
Let’s in any case hope that Sony develops its own unit, reflecting the same aesthetics and ergonomics as other remote controls of the brand.
