Présentée pour la première fois lors du salon High End qui s’est déroulé en mai dernier à Munich, cette N°2 reprend la forme caractéristique des modèles de la gamme Utopia
Cette colonne d’un peu moins d’un mètre vingt de hauteur intègre le dôme en Béryllium pur mais aussi des nouveautés avec une nouvelle suspension (TMD), un nouveau circuit magnérique (NIC) et un nouveau tweeter (IHL). Voir la présentation des technologies par Raphaël Triomphe :

Part of a new series of loudspeakers that sits between the company’s Electra and range-topping Utopia models, the Sopra Nº2 is no wallflower thanks to its striking cosmetics and range of brightly coloured finishes. A 3-way design utilising Focal’s ‘W-coned’ drivers, it includes a pair of 18cm woofers combined with a 16.5cm midrange and one of the company’s tried-and-tested beryllium inverted-dome tweeters. The Sopra Nº2 is the fruit of Focal’s continuing work on magnet and driver suspension design, all aimed at reducing distortion. And that work has paid off: the Sopra Nº2 enchants with a sound that’s by turns spacious and explicit, powerful yet unforced, setting new standards in its category.
