The Californian-based premium personal audio manufacturer says the PS 500 is its “best-sounding pair of headphones yet”, and that it can deliver “a first class experience in both comfort and sound quality”.
The PS 500 uses studio-grade 40mm titanium driver technology with an innovative rear enclosure which the company claims greatly reduces the sonic colouration often associated with closed-back designs.
The closed-back construction promises a high level of isolation from external sounds without resorting to noise cancelling electronics, thereby helping to maintain a high level of sonic purity. The outer cup housings are fabricated from high-grade leather with extra plush ear cushions for a snug, comfortable fit suitable for lengthy listening sessions, while the cable is sheathed in a braided cloth delivering both durability and tangle-free listening.
Designed for home use, an extra-wide padded headband and burnished aluminium and black finish ensure the PS 500 has a look to match its sound.
The Phiaton PS 500 is distributed in the UK by iHeadphones with a suggested retail price of £200. However, Amazon and iHeadphonesʼ own retail website are currently pricing a pair at £170.
