The 7digital app gives owners of Windows smart phones access to the company’s MP3 download store which is due to launch in January 2012.

The company currently has 17 million tracks and counting, all available for download and the website is currently in beta mode.

The 7digital library is where Spotify gets its tracks from, as will the recently announced Pure Music subscription streaming service.

The 7digital app is now appearing in the Windows Marketplace, so owners of phones such as the new Nokia Lumia 800.

The app will allow users to search for and preview tracks, as well as buy and download them directly to their mobile.

If you buy tracks while you’re connected to the store over a cellular network, they’ll be sent as lower resolution files, but when you connect via a Wi-Fi network, they’ll be upgraded to 320kbps MP3s.

You’ll also be able to access your tracks stored in the 7digital cloud locker from within the app.

Ben Drury, CEO of 7digital, said: “As well as Windows Phone devices, 7digital is also readily available natively on Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets, Blackberry devices, and as an app for all Android devices.”
