The company known for its MultEQ automatic calibration system for AV receivers named the speakers after the hip New York neighbourhood, home to classic alternative venues such as CBGB, ABC No Rio and Arlene’s Grocery.
The speakers follow the South of Market Audio Dock, named after the trendy San Francisco district, and stand a compact 23.5cm tall, with an 8.9cm woofer, 19mm silk-dome tweeter and a 10cm passive bass radiator.
They use Audyssey’s Smart Speaker digital audio technology, designed to boost bass clarity and improve the sound quality at low volumes. They come with both optical digital and 3.5mm analogue inputs, a headphone output and an automatic standby mode to save power.
Audyssey’s vice president of marketing, Robb Mason, said: “Our lives revolve around digital content, and our Lower East Side Media Speakers are designed to seamlessly integrate with how we watch movies and listen to music.
“By offering optical and analogue inputs, users can easily connect with their content delivery system, whether that’s a desktop computer or an Apple TV. Style, quality and versatility, that’s what these speakers are all about.”
