Naxos of America, Inc will take on its new duties next month and will be pushing Linn’s stable of classical and jazz artists including Claire Martin, Barb Jungr and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra across the continent.

Having won Label of the Year at the recent Gramophone Awards, the company is keen to expand back into the US market, after ten years without a distributor there.

Naxos is the biggest independent classical music distributor in the US, and will be responsible for the distribution of Linn’s CD and vinyl catalogue, with over 200 cross-genre titles.

Gilad Tiefenbrun, Linn’s Managing Director, said: “Since being named Gramophone’s Label of the Year, demand from US customers for Linn’s award-winning titles is at an all time high, so this opportunity comes at an ideal time. The partnership with Naxos will also allow Linn to cement the label’s growing presence and increase sales in this key territory, whilst furthering support for artists’ US performances.”

Highlight releases are expected to include Grammy Award-winner Sir Charles Mackerras’ recording of ‘Mozart Symphonies 38-41’with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the 2007 Gramophone Baroque Vocal Recording of the Year, ‘Handel’s Messiah’, from the Dunedin Consort.

Future release highlights will include Claire Martin’s US-recorded 2012 album with Kenny Barron, the Dunedin Consort’s recording of John Butt’s new performing edition of Handel’s Esther and the Linn debut of Robin Ticciati, the new Principal Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, performing Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique.
