The new player shares the same design as the high-end DBP-4010UD and DVD-A1UD models, with separate audio and video circuits to help maximise performance.
As well as standard Blu-ray, DVD and CDs it can also play hi-res audio formats including SACD and DVD-Audio
On board is an Anchor Bay Technologies VRS (Video Reference Series) high-bit video processor for rendering Blu-ray and upscaling of DVD to 1080p. There are also 7.1 analogue audio outputs with full decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
As a CD player it also offers a dedicated two channel analogue audio output, equipped with high-bit D/A converters (32bit/192kHz) and there are special coatings to the surface of the disc mechanism and a top cover with dual layers to help augment the audio performance.
There’s an Ethernet port for connection to the internet for BD-Live material as well as streaming services like YouTube. It also has DLNA certification for audio/video/photo streaming with other DLNA certified products across a Wi-Fi network.
Other playback options via disc or the player’s USB port include Kodak Picture CD as well as DivX Plus HD, MP3 and WMA.
Available in silver or black, the Denon DBP-2012UD will be available from March for £750.
