Musical Fidelity’s line of ‘Super Integrated’ amplifiers goes back to 1990 with the A1000 and this latest version is designed as a separate preamplifier with two monobloc power amplifiers all housed in the same chassis, but each with its own heat sink and separate transformer.

There’s a precision digital volume control and the preamp, which has its own power supply, uses inputs which are connected directly to its main circuit board to help keep signal paths as short as possible and maintain very low impedance.

The power amps use 12 large bipolar transistors each, allowing the amp to deliver 200 amps peak to peak.

The company claims the M6 500i offers exceptionally low distortion and excellent linearity, as well as extremely fine dynamics.

The casework features a custom-made extruded front panel made from milspec aluminium and the heatsinks have also been custom-made to get the best heat dissipation and finish.

The Musical Fidelity M6 500i is available now for £3,999.
