Scots-based manufacturer Atlas Cables has introduced “probably the highest performance loudspeaker cable currently available” with the £9,000 Asimi.
Atlas Asimi Atlas Cables Asimi
The Atlas Cables Asimi adopts much of the new technology and thinking that went into the design of the Atlas reference analogue cable, the Asimi interconnect. Atlas uses high-quality OCC (Ohno Continuous Casting) silver conductors which promise less than one grain in 700 feet of conductor, so enabling the audio signal to travel through a continuous conductor instead of traversing grain boundaries. The silver is of “the highest” purity – 6N or 99.9999% pure.
Each cable leg has two strands of three different conductor diameters giving six strands in all with an equivalent cross section of 3.5mm². The insulator is the same micro-porous PTFE dielectric from the Asimi interconnect cables which Atlas claims has a minimal effect upon the signal being transmitted along the cable.
The finished cable is protected by a PVC jacket giving an overall diameter of about 16mm.
This Atlas Cables Asimi loudspeaker cable is available in 3m lengths terminated with OCC spade connectors at a suggested retail price of £8,950 per pair. It’s also available with Z plugs at £8,700 per pair or it can be supplied in custom lengths at £2,400 for each additional metre.
