20 septembre 2010

The Airphonic wirefree system is designed to stream music wirelessly from iPads, iPods and iPhones to a compatible docking system – useful if you want to keep your iPod within reading distance or if you have an older dock that won’t fit the iPad, for instance.

Airphonic RX1+ Airphonic RX1+

It uses the Kleer wireless dongle, which has appeared before on the Opera S5+ wireless headphones, and transmits audio in CD quality (16-bit 44.1Khz). The system will transmit standard compressed audio formats but also permits full bandwidth, non-compressed music streaming of Apple Lossless, WAV and AIFF music files over a maximum of ten metres. It will work with Bose, JBL and Altec Lansing docks, among others.

The system includes two small dongles, the S5T+ male transmitter, which connects to Apple devices via the usual 30-pin connector, and one of two female receivers, the RX1 or RX1+, which plugs into the dock. The RX1+ includes iPhone compatibility as well as online streaming from Spotify, LastFM and YouTube.

The RX1 version costs £80, while the RX1+ costs £90. Both are available now.
