James Bond in HD, on ITV1

ITV has announced that it will be first to show all the James Bond films in HD on terrestrial TV.

The 20 plus films that make up one of the world’s most successful move franchises will all be made available following a deal to retain the free-to-air rights for the entire Bond film franchise, including the latest (and for now, thanks to studio money troubles, the last) Bond movie, Quantum Of Solace.

As part of the deal, ITV says it will show all the Bond films in HD for the first time in an ongoing season on ITV1 HD through this year and 2011.

Zai Bennett, ITV’s director of digital channels and acquisitions, said: “James Bond is a British cinematic icon loved by ITV’s audience and we’re delighted to continue the franchise’s long association with ITV, as well as the chance, for the first time, to show every Bond feature film in fantastic HD.”
