Philips 7605 midrange Ambilight TVs

10 août 2010

Philips’ latest clutch of midrange TVs is the 7605 series, and it features trickle-down technology from the firm’s higher end products including LED backlighting, Ambilight technology, Pixel Precise processing, HD Natural Motion, 100Hz technology, NetTV internet connectivity and more.

To keep costs down the 7605s don’t include a built-in Freeview HD tuner and despite initial speculation, they won’t now be bundled with a Pace Freeview HD set-top box. There is however the option of a wireless USB adapter to stream content from a computer for an additional £50.

All the sets include edge-lit LED technology and Philips says they use 40 per cent less energy than a standard LCD, while measuring just 42mm deep, even including the Ambilight side-lighting feature.

Sound comes from forward-firing, hidden tweeters and rear-firing woofers which helps keep the panel thin.

The latest 2010 version of Ambilight also has a new feature for rooms where the set is not positioned on a white background. An on-screen colour chart allows you to calibrate the colours to provide the optimum viewing experience, no matter what the colour of the wall behind.

The new range will come in 32in, 37in, 40in and 46in flavours selling for £849, £999, £1,199 and £1,499 respectively.
