Creek Destiny 2 amp and CD player

25 mai 2010

Hertfordshire-based hi-fi brand Creek has announced upgraded versions of its high-end Destiny two-channel amplifier and CD player.

The Destiny 2 amp still offers 2×100 watts of power with the same 300VA low-noise toroidal transformer plus an additional transformer for standby operation and digital control circuits. Now however it boasts improved MOS-FET power amp circuitry and as well as its four phono inputs and tape loop, there’s now an AV Direct input, which bypasses the preamp and feeding the power amp section directly.

The Destiny 2 CD player now includes a CD decoder and servo motor control functions using a new Philips chipset. This is housed on a dedicated circuit board directly under the laser assembly so it offers the shortest possible signal routing.

There are three individual toroidal transformers on board to keep digital and analogue supplies separate and the Cirrus Logic CD4396 24-bit/192kHz chipset performs the DAC duties, while improved reclocking circuitry helps to eliminate jitter.

Both models will come with the new Creek SRC3 remote, which will also be introduced with the rest of the company’s products from June.

Both Destiny 2 models will be available in June, the amp for £1,600 and the player for £1,400.
