Stealth Acoustics in-wall speakers

4 mars 2010

US-based manufacturer Stealth Acoustics has released its ‘invisible’ in-wall speaker range for the UK.

Each of the Stealth speakers uses a three-layer acoustic composite material made up of two layers of high-grade graphics paper with a foam centre for the speaker face. The face of the speakers are fixed flush with the wall, then finished with plaster and painted over so that they effectively ‘disappear’. The front panels are mechanically isolated from the surrounding wall so as to prevent cracking of wallpaper and paint.

The Stealth range features four full-range speakers plus one subwoofer. The flagship AX3 is a three-way system with three Neodymium drivers and a high-powered 8in woofer which fires into an ‘acoustic lever’ activating the 16×30in panel for distribution of low frequencies. It’s available now for £2,226 per pair.

The FX8 is a two-way 8in model (£1,169 a pair), while the FX6 (£1,051 a pair) is a two-way six-incher. The STX8 single-panel stereo system (£910) has the same footprint as the FX8, but uses two independent channels, isolated with separate heavy-duty crossovers.

The B1630 two-panel, 2×8in subwoofer system (£992 a pair) delivers bass frequencies down to 35Hz and is designed to be used in pairs. A B255R subwoofer amplifier is also available for £934.

Stealth also offers a complete 5.2 surround sound system consisting of 3x AX3; 2x FX8; 2x B1630 and a B255R subwoofer amp for £5,869.
